President and CEO,Archibald Relocation, LLC
What is the secret to leveraging your business model in the current real estate and relocation industries?
The bottom line is, there is no secret. But, I do have two guidelines I religiously follow. First and foremost, it’s all about getting back to the basics of truly caring—doing what you say you are going to do and the “risky business” of truly connecting with others. People like to do business with people they know, like, respect, and trust. Relationships = Business, especially when it is done genuinely. Remember that friends are forever, even in business.
Second, I invest in people and grow my staff and relocation/real estate agents so they, too, are rooted in my No. 1 guideline of making a real connection. It is that sincere caring in our voices and actions when we first greet a newcomer that places us closer to becoming their new best friend and real estate guru in our market. I am also beginning to see the emergence of a new trend, the use of Service Level Agreements (SLAs) in the area of real estate as it relates to mobility services. These formal contracts outline the agreement that occurs between a client and his customer as to the level of service that can be expected during the transaction. It is this increase in usage that demonstrates our society’s growing hunger for excellent customer service and caring. I believe that is the future of our industry and is one of the main reasons I began Archibald Relocation—to provide strategic partnering and 100% focus on delivery of relocation/ real estate services while being mindful of costs.
What’s one business secret you know that no one else does?
Every day I use my magic to be of service to others. That may seem very simple, yet hardly anyone practices it in our busy world. I partner with people and build trust that brings me back to the basics of treating others like I would like to be treated. I deliver what I promise and focus myself to be committed to deliver what I promise. Do what you say you will do; never anything less. Commitment means failure is not an option.
